My Qualifications
I am a psychoanalytic psychotherapist working in North London. I have over 15 years experience with a wide range of patients of different ages, ethnicities and backgrounds. I trained at the Guild of Psychotherapists and registered with UKCP. I also trained in EMDR techniques dealing with individuals suffering from past and present traumatic experiences.
My professional background began in social Work, focusing on working with children and families. Later, as a Psychiatric Social worker, I was part of a Mental Health Team based in a psychiatric hospital The work included working with people with serious mental health difficulties, and people in crisis. I am based in Golders Green NW11 in north London.
My approach
My training has led me to use what is known as a mixed approach, also known as eclectic, I make use of ideas from all schools of psychotherapy. Each individual must be seen as a unique individual with a more-or-less unique presenting problem.
Areas of expertise
Historically, my practice has tended to include patients from foreign backgrounds, who may have had difficulty adjusting to the cultural changes and expectations of living in London and who feel 'displaced'.
I also work with general relationship difficulties, depression, bereavement and traumatic experiences. I work with private clients in both French and English and have a particular interest in the multi-lingual dynamics of cultural identity
Supervision, conferences and workshops
I continue to work in the National Health Service in a GP's practice for short-term psychotherapy. I am continuing my work in the voluntary mental health sector with a large national voluntary organisation, where I assess individuals in crisis and supervise the work of counsellors, and organise workshops.
I have organised several conferences as a committee member of a Multilingual Psychotherapy Centre.
I work with my private clients in both French and English and have a particular interest in the multi-lingual dynamics of cultural identity.
